Surface from longitudinal section

 

One method of creating a terrain model is to create a plane along a longitudinal section:

It is possible to extend the profile line slightly on both sides to create more working space. The corridor width is the width of the plane along the profile. When running the wizard, you are asked to select a 2D polyline that represents a longitudinal section:

In the image above, a PDF of a longitudinal section has been placed after which the EG profile is traced with a new polyline. After selecting the polyline, the software asks to choose a point on this line for which an elevation is known.

Next an axis line is asked to be selected. An arrow indicates the direction along which the longitudinal section will be projected, so pay attention to the correct direction:

The final result is a Civil 3D Surface:
