Manual Drill Control

Polyline

A design based on a polyline is the most flexible method. The designer may be handed an intended drill line or the drill line may first be drawn manually between underground objects. The intended drill line can then be chosen as a polyline to design a drill. The polyline should consist of:

Straight lines only, Drill Control will define the arcs

Alternating between straight and curved lines

When selecting a polyline, the application will ask in which direction the drill line should be drawn, this will be indicated by an arrow:

Straight lines only

The application will now define the arcs with the set radius or the maximum radius:

The entry and exit points are also be places. If these were already known then they will be moved to the starting and ending points of the drill line.

Alternating between straight and curved lines

If the polyline already contains arcs and straight lines in a consecutive way, the application will apply these arcs with the original radius.

Single arc only

It is possible to select a polyline that consists of only one arc. The application will then place a minimum straight line before and after the arc.

Outside longitudinal section

It can happen that based on the set values a design would end up outside the Profile View. The application reports this and displays a preview of temporary lines that can be removed with the REGEN command. If the intersection of the line segments falls below the Profile View, the application asks whether the Profile View should be extended to provide more working space.

After designing, the design is checked immediately for deviations.
